The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all public universities in Nigeria to complete their 2025 admission processes by October 31, 2025.

This directive was contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday. According to the admission timeline, private universities are to conclude admissions by November 30, 2025, while all other tertiary institutions—both public and private—must wrap up admissions no later than December 31, 2025.

JAMB explained that the schedule was approved during the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Minister of Education. The move is aimed at stabilising Nigeria’s academic calendar and ensuring fair and timely access to admission opportunities across all institutions.

“Following the directives issued at the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, all tertiary institutions have been instructed to conclude their admission processes by the end of 2025 according to the schedule below,” the bulletin stated.

The board urged institutions to complete their admissions processes well ahead of the respective deadlines, even if the start of the new academic session is delayed.

“Even where an institution is not yet ready to commence the new academic session, such an institution should conduct its admission and archive it,” the board added.

Additionally, institutions conducting post-UTME screening exercises have been asked to fast-track the process in order to stay in line with the admission schedule.

“Consequently, institutions conducting post-UTME screenings are expected to conclude those exercises in good time to comply with the 2025 admissions schedule,” JAMB said.

The board emphasized that all admissions must be finalized within the timelines provided to ensure consistency and efficiency in the nation’s higher education sector.
